General Description of the Job Class

Lead various, appropriate types of aerobics programs and activities, including but not limited to:

cardio-interval, stretch and flex, dynaband, spinning, cardiac fitness, cardio-combo, basic step,

step interval, weight training, exerball, and clinical cardiopulmonary rehabilitation programs.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Continual supervision of all fitness/aerobics areas during class times to provide a relatively safe and effective and motivating environment for physical activity. Assess continually the participants and their ability level. Communicate to participant any concern or difficulty.

Set up facility for any activity that is needed for assigned class.

Observe and teach good body mechanics. Constantly work with participants to enhance their knowledge of exercise, body alignment and exercise safety. Record attendance for the exercise class.

Demonstrate an awareness of self-responsibility and accountability.

Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to participant/significant others' rights as identified within hospital policy.

Remain flexible in staffing patterns and resolution of staffing conflicts.

Participate in assignment for activities/programs as needed.

Work cooperatively with peers to contribute to the overall productivity of the team.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

Appropriate certification as determined by classes, i.e., NDEITA, ACE,or any current professional certification from a nationally recognized organization in the health/fitness industry.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of general fitness principles, components of appropriate aerobic exercise session.
