General Description of the Job Class

Participate in the dental treatment of patients by performing dental prophylaxis, applying topical fluorides, examining teeth and instructing patients on proper dental care; take and develop radiographs.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

*Participate in the dental treatment of patients by performing dental prophylaxis, applying topical fluorides, examining teeth, and assisting dentist with procedures as required; set up instruments and other equipment. *Instruct patients on proper dental care and proper diet for good oral health. *Take, develop and mount radiographs; trace radiographs required for corrective treatment. *Maintain records on dental status of patients and services rendered. *Clean and sterilize instruments; requisition supplies as required. *Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

 

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education:

Work requires completion of an approved dental hygiene program and certification as a dental hygienist.

 

Experience:

None required beyond above education/training.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
