Coordinate volunteer activities; provide assistance with the psychosocial needs of patients and their families during visits to the clinics
Coordinate a variety of volunteer activities in the specific clinic or program; assist patients and their families with personal and social needs, including but not limited to, providing hospitality services, educational and resource information, and referrals to other programs and other supportive services.
Coordinate the recruitment of volunteers to serve in specific clinic or program; interview, screen and select volunteer staff.
Develop and coordinate a training program for volunteers and operational policies and procedures which adhere to professional and ethical standards; organize and coordinate in-service workshops and other support service activities for volunteers.
Oversee, schedule, and provide feedback to the volunteer staff.
Develop and implement new programs, goals and objectives for patient support services; serve as a liaison to medical staff, Duke Volunteer Services, and other departments. Write volunteer newsletter; manage collection of contributed items.
Represent the clinic/program at various local and state volunteer resource groups, churches and AIDS service organizations.
Coordinate volunteer recognition events Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Education: | Work requires a bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education or a related field. |
Experience: | Work requires one year experience in either counseling, teaching or volunteer services or a related field. A master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or a related field may substitute for the required experience. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE |
