Perform a variety of highly skilled duties associated with the operation of specialized equipment to assist physicians in the examination and treatment of diseases of the eye. Perform multiple ophthalmic imaging procedures including but not limited to digital fluorescein/ICG angiography (including performing IV injections and related patient care), color fundus photography, optical coherence tomography, retinal thickness analysis, anterior segment slit-lamp biomicroscopy, goniography, public relations and teaching-based general photography.
Intimate patient care includes imaging tests using the appropriate cameras and machines and includes the assessment and monitoring of patients??? well-being before, during, and immediately after IV injections related to fluorescein and ICG angiography. Photographers are trained in all aspects of venipuncture and associated side effects and risks and also trained to monitor vital signs and how to recognize and address rare but not uncommon complications.
Imaging tests include but not limited to the following:fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, ICG angiography, anterior segment angiography, slit lamp photography, external photography, Gonio Photography, OCT, OCTA, advanced B-scan ultrasonography, advanced UBM, ERG, Microperimetry and confocal microscopy.
Provides technical insight into the imaging protocols (where appropriate) and training of uncertified staff.
Represent Duke as a liaison or presenter at various conferences or photography meetings.
| Education: | Work requires an education background generally equivalent to a high school education. |
| Experience: | Two years of work related experience in Ophthalmic photography is required. |
| Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification: | Current certification as a Certified Retinal Angiographer through the Ophthalmic Photographers Society or Certified Diagnostic Ophthalmic sonographer through JHCAPO. CDOS must be able to perform advanced B-scan and UBM to assist in the imaging and diagnosis of ocular oncology clinic. CPT (certified phlebotomy technician) certification preferred, Venipuncture experience required (can be completed within 6 months of hire). |
