General Description of the Job Class

Perform routine duties involved in Assisted Reproduction to include, but not limited to patient instruction, collection room preparation, semen testing, semen cryopreservation/thawing and semen processing for insemination.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Prepare and process patient blood specimens and assay materials for analysis. Analysis includes independent operation of hormone analyzing machine including maintenance of reference, quality control and disposable materials.

Participate in gamete and embryo shipping and receiving including storage management of cryopreserved specimens.

Coordinate consenting, scheduling and operations for urgent semen cryopreservation for oncology/endocrinology patients.

Monitor quality control testing to ensure reliability of testing procedures; monitor functioning and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment; prepare applicable records summarizing results and efforts to the laboratory director.

Assist in clerical and administrative duties including, but not limited to patient and staff communication, record keeping, inventory of materials, supplies and equipment.

 

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education:

Work requires a Bachelor???s Degree in Biology, Zoology, Biochemistry or other related scientific field.

 

Experience:

Clinical and/or research experience in an Andrology or In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Laboratory preferred.
