General Description of the Job Class

The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for the comprehensive nutritional care of patients. The Clinical Dietitian provides assessment, development and implementation of nutritional plans, evaluation and follow-up on plans as they relate to the patient's needs. With knowledge of the impact of nutrition on various diseases and medical conditions, the Clinical Dietitian provides nutritional information and guidance in the patient plan of care process. The Clinical Dietitian will also represent the facility as a subject-matter-expert to the community regarding nutrition and health.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

 

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education:

Graduate of a four-year program in food and nutrition, dietetics or related discipline and completion of a Dietetic Internship approved by the American Dietetic Association is required. Master's degree in food and nutrition, dietetics or related discipline.

 

Experience:

Experience in providing nutrition care in inpatient and outpatient settings with exposure to various disease and medical states is strongly preferred. Experience in public speaking and nutrition program education to public groups is preferred. Advanced computer skills is required as they related to reporting, formatting and education functions.

 

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

Licensure with the state of NC is required; Registered Dietitian designation is required (or registry eligible with registry designation within one (1) year of hire into the position).
