Manage and supervise functions of multiple assigned inpatient and/or outpatient therapy patient care areas; ensure effective delivery of clinical patient care and compliance with administrative and clinical policies and procedures.
Manage and supervise delivery of patient care for assigned therapy settings. Ensure compliance with clinical patient care standards, regulatory requirements, and established policies and procedures. Assess the clinical needs based on customer feedback (e.g., physicians, patients) and develop programs to meet the needs.
Participate in the development of the clinical areas' strategic planning, program development, and operational plans.
Actively support and promote a professional clinical model that encourages staff participation in the development of clinical standards that is collaborative, collegial, and utilizes current trends and data in professional practice (clinical and administrative). Openly support and consistently communicate mission of the department and the organization. Serve as the collective voice for therapy staff to communicate with administration and other leaders. Serve as the staff and patient advocate to ensure optimal patient care.
Interface with patients and families to ensure that care is consistent with their expectations. Ensure active use of the rehabilitative process for patients from initial evaluation until discharge from their care. Serve as a professional role model and mentor to staff by responding positively to change while supporting colleagues through the change process. Serve as a change agent to facilitate communication and transition that supports the mission of the organization.
Ensure a unit-based work force that is diverse and cognizant of the value diversity brings to the workplace.
Ensure coordination/participation of rehabilitative staff on department and organization wide councils/committees. Manage, supervise, and coordinate delivery of patient care for assigned patient care areas. Ensure compliance with clinical patient care standards and established policies and procedures.
Maintain clinical competencies for assigned clinical areas and provide rehabilitative care as needed, (urgent situations, PTO coverage, etc.). Assess/coach and evaluate staff level of practice. Develop programs that foster continued clinical development from novice to expert to positively impact on patient care and career satisfaction of staff.
Maintain required records, reports, and statistics for administrative purposes, ensures compliance with established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality control, (POCT); PI, safety, environmental, and infection control. Communicate requirements to staff, and hold staff accountable to established requirements. Coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures designed to improve operational efficiency. Coordinate QC/PI activities with appropriate staff.
Oversee various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations, and other related activities.
Plan, schedule, and organize work for group ensuring proper distribution and delegation of assignments and efficient utilization of personnel, space, and facilities; overall accountability for the requisition, care and maintenance of unit inventory, equipment and supplies.
Accountable for the effective and efficient operation of the assigned clinical areas and staff including ensuring that orders, treatments, plans of care, clinical pathways are being carried out in a manner supportive of patient care and recovery. Ensure documentation of patient care is complete and accurate in accordance with hospital and unit policies and procedures.
Collaborate with the Director Rehabilitative Services to determine fiscal requirements of assigned unit(s), and prepare budgetary recommendations. Monitor the level of resources utilized in service delivery and determine the appropriateness of resource consumption in the service. Develop action plans in conjunction with the Director of Rehabilitative Services to ensure budget and resource efficiency, and satisfaction with patient care delivery.
Understand and communicate potential clinical equipment or supply issues to appropriate support team members.
Facilitate provision of clinical/education updates and skill check-offs for all staff on a regular basis.
Review and provide appropriate follow up/communication on SRSs related to their teams or patient in conjunction with the Director of Rehabilitative Services.
Ensure that staff completes proper documentation in order to appropriately process, bill, and collect payments for relevant outpatient services. Collaborate with the PRMO staff in order to identify, resolve, and re-define billing, and collection processes to ensure proper payment for services.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
| Education: | Required: Graduate from an accredited Bachelors program in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Pathology, or Audiology. Masters or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Pathology, or Audiology preferred. |
| Experience: | Based on educational level, the minimum requirements are as follows: Bachelor's Degree: Minimum of four years of relevant clinical experience in addition to at least five years leadership experience. Master's Degree: Minimum of four years of relevant clinical experience in addition to at least four years leadership experience. Doctoral Degree: Minimum of four years of relevant clinical experience in addition to at least three years leadership experience. |
