General Description of the Job Class

To provide legal and regulatory support to strategic planning division of Duke University Health System, particularly in the areas of state regulation, including certificate of need and planning.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

This position carries significant responsibilities to ensure that Duke University Health System complies with all applicable state regulatory requirements associated with strategic planning activities.

Responsibilities include:

-- Liaison with Department of Health and Human Services Division of Health Service Regulation regarding matters affecting the health system including certificate of need, licensure and construction section requirements

-- Monitoring of health system planning activities and submission of certificate of need applications to determine and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements

-- Oversight and management of appeals of certificate of need decisions and related litigation

-- Coordination of the health system???s participation in the state health planning process

-- Provision of general legal support for strategic planning activities for the health system.

 

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education:

Law degree required.

 

Experience:

Ten years legal experience in the field of health care regulation, including state certificate of need law, required.

 

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

Must be admitted to the North Carolina State Bar.
