General Description of the Job Class

The Environmental Services Operations Manager is responsible for directing and overseeing the operational needs of Hospital Environmental Services. This position will coordinate the tasks of the front-line staff and serve as a liaison between administration and hospital departments and provide the highest possible level of service.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Work collaboratively with hospital units to ensure the client needs are met.

Establishes and annually reviews standards and work procedures for all Housekeeping staff.

Plans work and staffing schedules and areas of work to ensure adequate services are rendered.

Interview, hiring and training of new associates.

Orients, develops, and supervises all supervisory/housekeeping staff.

Conducts regular inspections and makes changes and recommendations to the facility.

Monthly reporting of goals, accomplishments, and future plans.

Staff education and training.

Communication with staff, administration, and other departments.

Coordination of outside services (i.e. Pest Control, Window Cleaning, Medical and Solid Waste,Document Destruction, and Recycling program).

Proactive in the achievement of the facility goals and objectives.

Monthly reporting of departmental data to your unit director

Frequent rounding to ensure cleanliness of facility.

Timely and accurate implementation of Tru-D.

Ensure accurate and timely payroll for staff.

Completion of staff evaluations.

 

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education:

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a associate's degree program.

 

Experience:

Work requires knowledge of environmental service functions normally acquired through three years progressive experience in environmental services or related supervisory, administrative, management experience in a service or similar environment.

At least one year of supervisory experience in housekeeping or service- related field with high customer/client contact required

Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Military Transferrable Skills:

Non Commissioned Officer E4+ with experience in Planning, developing and directing logistics

All military branches with experience of supervising a group of soldiers of 15 or more

 

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

N/A

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must have the ability to analyze and interpret financial and other data

Excellent interpersonal skills

High customer service and quality attitude

Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives

Public speaking skills

Ability to utilize a participative approach to managing staff, to organize and prioritize tasks, and to develop budgets with a complete understanding of facility needs and requirements

Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations

Ability to multi-task and establish priorities

Ability to maintain organization in a changing and stressful environment

Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership

Plan and conduct meetings with departmental employees to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures

Military Transferrable Skills:

Troubleshoots, isolates and identifies causes of equipment malfunction

Teaches technical skills to lower grade soldiers

Prepares costs and labor estimates
