The President is a critical senior executive leadership position responsible for oversight of the newly developed Duke Health Integrated Practice physicians, providers, and staff across their sites and scope of clinical practice. The President will oversee both practice operations and strategy development and implementation in concert with the other senior leaders of DUHS. They will focus and guide our teams to deliver remarkable clinical quality and patient experience, while fostering a clinical practice environment with exceptional physician, provider, and staff well-being, recruitment, and retention.
Aligned with other DUHS senior executives, the President will play a key role in overall DUHS clinical operations and management including overall business planning and execution, capital and operating budget development and management, growth plan and development for our distributed regional ambulatory network and focus on high value care and effective population health management. The President is accountable for implementation of other clinical strategic priorities and objectives as directed, established, and approved by the DUHS Executive Vice President, Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors.
The DHIP Clinical Chairs are accountable to the President for ambulatory clinical operations and practice management, including meeting key performance indicators identified and approved by DHIP and DUHS leadership inclusive of quality, patient experience, workforce, finance and other identified key measures.
Working with a focus on continuous improvement grounded in lean principles, the President leads clinical performance to ensure clinical services and operations are compliant with all applicable regulatory and licensing agencies. They are responsible for implementing, reviewing and developing performance objectives, employed physician compensation objectives, incentive and contract benchmarks, compliance measures, provider workflow planning and employed provider management. The position also serves as a coach/mentor/trainer to practice clinical leadership giving guidance in best practices.

Oversee DHIP clinical practices and programs and direct all providers in the practice of the highest quality of care according to the standards and benchmarks set by the organization, licensing boards, funding agencies and state and federal regulatory boards.
In partnership with the DUHS Group President for Acute Care, the DHIP president will oversee DUHS clinical service lines to ensure that strategic and operational goals are achieved, while delivering the highest quality of care across DUHS ambulatory and acute care locations.
Work closely with the DUHS senior leadership team using objective measures to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality of services, both clinical and operational, that ultimately affects the provision of services to our patient population.
Ensure medical services and operations are compliant with all applicable regulatory and licensing agencies. Assess all matters of clinical compliance and provide timely recommendations for corrective actions and quality improvement.
Establish systems of accountability for all providers to include productivity benchmarks, performance measures and controls for clinical quality assurance.
Actively engage in payer relationships and assist in the development of evolving payment models to support the financial and clinical success of DUHS.
Establish and/or maintain working and collaborative relationships in the health provider community, on behalf of and in accordance with formal understandings of DUHS. Develop relationships with hospitals and specialty providers for referrals and for provision of inpatient care, seek out available medical resources, and ensure adequate clinical access to care for DUHS patients.
Engage in leadership of our high value care efforts and population health management, and coordinate resources and programs across DUHS and with community partners as identified.
Lead in formulating and/or revising policies and procedures that will enhance the achievement of DUHS's goals.
Participate as a key member on the DUHS senior leadership team to develop, maintain, and execute on a strategic plan for DUHS.
Participate in the recruitment of qualified DUHS senior leadership including interviewing and recommendations for hire.
Provide direct patient care in their field of expertise in accordance with credentialing requirements.
Assume other responsibilities at the direction of the Executive Vice President.

| Education: | MD graduate of an accredited Medical School. |
| Experience: | Minimum of 5 years senior health care leadership. |
| Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification: | Board Certified ABMS Medical Specialty. NC Medical license and meets requirements for DUHS credentialing. |
| Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: | Leadership style and skills to build the trust and respect of providers, patients, staff, colleagues, external partners, and other leadership team members. Strong emotional intelligence, and ability to confront difficult situations and the emotional response of others. Excellent problem-solving skills, including creativity, resourcefulness, timeliness and technical knowledge related to analyzing and resolving medical and clinical administrative problems. Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team in collaborative settings. Ability to motivate staff and promote team building. Understands and is committed to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality when necessary. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Knowledge of health care operations as well as health care legal/regulatory requirements, human resource policies, protocols, and other clinical issue management.
