General Description of the Job Class

The Instructor Level Lead faculty member is responsible for providing leadership and oversight for the Level of the program. This role involves curriculum development, faculty mentorship, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidenced based education to nursing students.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

- Includes responsibilities of Course Instructor, Lead faculty.

- Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Level, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and standards. Collaborate with college President, Associate Executive of Academics, other Level Leads, faculty and administration as needed.

- Curriculum Development: Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing curricula and instructional materials for the Level. Utilize principles of andragogy.

- Faculty Mentorship: Mentor and support nursing faculty in Level, promoting professional development and excellence in teaching.

- Quality Assurance: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Level, implementing improvements as needed. Monitor progression and/or professional concerns of students in Level.

- Student Support: Oversee student advising and support services, addressing academic and clinical concerns.

- Accreditation and Compliance: Ensure the Level curriculum meets accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.

- Collaboration: Work with academic and clinical partners to enhance the educational experience and opportunities for students in the Level.

- Research and Scholarship: Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publications, and presentations is encouraged.

- Professional Development: Stay updated with advancements in nursing education and incorporate best practices into course coordination. Serves on various professional and faculty committees, to include the Curriculum Committee. Advisor to student organizations.

- Perform related work as required.

 

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education:

Doctorate in Nursing or a related field (DNP, Ed.D, Ph.D.) required, or Master's degree in Nursing with 10 years of education/course management accepted.

 

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of full-time nursing education experience in an accredited nursing program. Experience in curriculum development and instructional design, preferred.

 

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

Current, unencumbered RN license in the state of North Carolina. Meets the requirements of the North Carolina State Board of Nursing within 18 months of employment (NCAC 36.0318).

Maintains current BLS certification; skills and knowledge required for the clinical setting where the clinical practicum is conducted. (i.e.: age-specific competencies, glucometer, etc.). Professional certification preferred. Advanced certifications in nursing education or specialty areas, preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong leadership and organizational skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and proficiency in educational technology. Familiarity with accreditation processes and standards, preferred.
