The Senior Director of Marketing provides leadership and direction to DUHS clinical and business entities on strategic marketing and external communications including brand strategy, service line marketing, digital presence, owned and paid media channels, marketing technology and analytics. The Senior Director has deep expertise in one or more functional areas of marketing and leverages those skills and capabilities in collaboration with the broader marketing department to achieve organizational goals.
As a member of the corporate DUHS marketing team reporting to the AVP of Marketing, the senior director plays an important leadership role in bringing together the people, tools and data necessary to build the Duke Health brand and grow the business. The senior director partners with and provides counsel to executives across the organization to help solve unprecedented business challenges at the enterprise level. Informed by marketing research and user data, the senior director advocates for a remarkable patient experience and recommends marketing strategies that enable Duke to compete for tomorrows healthcare consumer.
Develop, direct and implement marketing strategies that support organizational goals across Duke University Health System. Provide strategic counsel to senior leaders on health system initiatives and key priorities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership and vendor partners. Represent the marketing department in meetings and presentations, advocating for marketing initiatives and priorities.
Scope and prioritize projects that align with business and marketing goals. Proactively identify gaps in people, tools or data and build a business case to resource effectively.
Manage expenditures, including vendor contracts, to ensure they stay within the approved budget. Identify opportunities to reduce cost or adjust spending as necessary to improve marketing efficiency and effectiveness.
Leverage marketing research and user data to continuously refine and optimize marketing strategies, ensuring that decisions are based on the most current and relevant information.
Provide comprehensive reports on marketing performance, budget status, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership on a routine and ad hoc basis. This includes presenting data-driven insights and recommendations to inform decision-making.
Stay up-to-date with emerging trends in healthcare consumerism and advancements in marketing best practices including content or advertising strategy and marketing technologies.
Collaborate with other marketing directors to lead and mentor the broader marketing team, promoting a culture of open communication and continuous process improvement between teams.
Work in collaboration with entity and university colleagues to ensure an integrated, effective approach across all marketing strategies, plans, and deliverables.
Provide strong leadership to direct reports, setting clear goals and performance expectations. Inspire and motivate team members to achieve their best performance. Conduct regular performance coaching to help team members grow professionally.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
| Education: | Work requires communication, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program in Marketing, Business, Communications or a related discipline. A Master's degree or commensurate experience in healthcare or community-based organizations is preferred. |
