General Description of the Job Class

Responsible for Education Plan for effective orientation, staff development, and skills validation. Develops nursing education programs based on best practice and current CHS initiatives, i.e. SAFE program, falls program, etc. Prepares courses and assists other clinical instructors in educational courses. Develops, organizes and schedules new nurse orientation monthly and new graduate nurse orientation, at least yearly. Acts as liaison with schools of nursing, nursing instructors and nursing students. Monitors CEU process and assigns appropriate CEU's to courses according to NCBON guidelines and keeps CEU applications current. Assures compliance with NCBON regulations. Conducts and monitors credentials for heart code BLS, ALS and PALS, NRP and CPI, and other credential courses. Coordinates with other instructors to teach credentialed courses. Plans changes and improvements for the Education Service Line. Provides recommendations and analysis of staffing, productivity and volume indicators with twenty-four hour accountability.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

 

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required

 

Experience:

1-3 years of experience as a preceptor or clinical educator working with nursing or allied health students or new graduates required.

 

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

Current North Carolina Nursing License or Compact Licensure Agreement required
