General Description of the Job Class

Coordinate and participate in clerical and delivery duties involved in the operation of entity's mail service.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Coordinate and participate in clerical and delivery duties to include sorting, distributing, collecting and metering postal materials in accordance with established procedures and applicable Federal postal regulations.

Sell postage stamps and receive letters and parcels for mailing; advise customers as to the most efficient and economical methods of mailing postal materials. Operate postage meter machine to stamp outgoing letters; weight and stamp packages; sectionalize outgoing mail according to destination.

Maintain daily record of all metered mail by department; record registered and insured mail.

Transport mail from U.S. Post Office to mail rooms, dispatch mail to specified offices and locations and pick up outgoing mail.

Make work assignments; review work of lower level employees; assist in training new personnel.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Work requires ability to follow instructions normally acquired through a partial high school education.

Experience

Work requires six months of mailroom experience.
