General Description of the Job Class
Coordinates functional transportation activities and communicates information to internal and external customers.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Respond to telephone requests and assign staff to perform services on established priority basis.
Ensure that transportation services are performed on a timely manner.
Inform supervisor of activity level when additional support is needed and assist with resolution of those issues.
Dispatch appropriate personnel to code blue calls.
Monitor transport activities during transport to ensure transporters move from dispatches, to in process, to completion in a timely manner.
Assist all users with the Patient Tracking System.
Take initiative to meet the needs of customers with available resources and notify the customer when problems arise. May assume responsibility for department operation in absence of supervisor. Participate in training of new employees. Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, safety, environmental and infection control. Care for and maintain department equipment. Maintain required records and reports as directed. Prioritize requests-changes priority of requests to ensure timely response.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education
Work requires the ability to follow and provide instructions to the public generally equivalent to a high school education. The ability to transport patients to various hospital locations is also required.
Experience
Minimum of 1 year of transportation experience. Working knowledge of Windows.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
BLS Certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Manual dexterity in operation of machines. Much walking, lifting, and physical exertion. Ability to lift, push, pull 100 - 200 pounds. Requires full range of motion.
Requires good verbal communication skills to interact with patient, families, doctors and unit staff. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
