General Description of the Job Class

Perform advanced Film File Clerk activities involved in the filing, retrieval and distribution of patient x-ray film folders, in the maintenance of associated logs and records and in the training of new employees.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Coordinate and participate in activities relating to the filing, retrieval and distribution of x-ray films, film folders and reports ensuring adherence to established procedures and priorities.

Coordinate and participate in the maintenance of various files, logs and records ensuring accuracy and completeness of information. Coordinate and participate in the hanging of x-ray films on multiviewers in proper format and sequence and according to appropriate medical service for reading by physicians; check multiviewers regularly to ensure proper display of films and functioning of equipment; report any mechanical failures to appropriate services for repair.

Make work assignments and review work of subordinate employees, assist supervisor in performance evaluations. Train employees in the processes and procedures required in performing tasks within the unit; assist in determining adequate employee achievement of training standards.

Provide leadership for the unit in the absence of the supervisor and report any unusual problems or situations to the supervisor.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Requires a general educational background normally equivalent to a high school education.

Experience

One year of experience as a Radiology Film File Clerk-Level 2 to acquire full knowledge and understanding of terminology and procedures outlining the various aspects of the x-ray film filing system.
