General Description of the Job Class

COORDINATE activities over three shifts for the Radiology Film File section in a designated hospital ensuring accuracy and completeness of work, proper staffing and training of employees and adherence to established department and University policies and procedures

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Responsible for coordinating the activities of all three shifts in a designated hospital.

Supervise and coordinate activities relating to the filing, retrieval, distribution and display of x-ray films, film folders and reports ensuring adherence to general principles, established procedures and priorities.

Supervise and coordinate the maintenance of various files, logs and records ensuring accuracy and completeness of information. Prepare statistical reports from existing records as required. Maintain interface with personnel outside the department to resolve problems concerning the disposition of x-ray films and services provided by the department.

Plan and schedule work for a designated hospital film file section ensuring proper staffing and distribution of assignments to accomplish required tasks.

Plan and conduct meetings with shift supervisors to explain and implement new policies, procedures and practices and to keep employees breast of University and departmental activities. Develop and implement training programs for new employees and supervise the training of employees in the process and procedures required in performing tasks within the department; establish adequate training standards and determine employee achievement of training standards.

Supervise various personnel actions including but not limited to hiring, scheduling, evaluating performance and recommending performance appraisals and promotions. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Requires a general educational background normally equivalent to a high school education.

Experience

Requires three years experience in the Radiologic Film File Department to acquire a broad understanding of the Radiologic Film File System and the ability to provide supervision and leadership to a three shift operation in the Radiology Film File Section.
