General Description of the Job Class

Assists with establishing and implementing goals, policies, procedures, schedules, priorities and development of departmental budget. As a work leader, oversee all facets of the operation of the Engineering Dept. Performs all functions pertaining to maintenance and plant equipment to adequately support and efficiently operate the full range of departmental. duties.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Assists with selection of personnel for dept., and ensures they have proper skills, training and resources necessary to be effective in their jobs.

Organizes the planned activities (goals) into a weekly schedule Assists or instructs personnel in proper procedures required for preventive maintenance, repairs and inspections on related equipment Performs assigned PM's that are assigned to individual Organizes long range projects Establishes process for a customer focused preventative maintenance program and a work order request program insuring that necessary staff and supplies are available to operate these systems Plans (short/long term) objectives to be achieved and determines appropriate means to accomplish the goal. Coordinates, plans, gathers information, establishes practical priorities, evaluates results and plans accordingly Assists in developing realistic operation and Capital budges based on hospitals overall financial objectives and the departments proposed objectives. Assists in evaluation and projects the impact of new technology on the department budget Is responsible for supervising the construction crew on small in-house renovations. Monitors staff and coordinate work that needs to be done with other departments or trades. Assist in personnel evaluation yearly. Provides liaison with contractors, inspecting engineers, accompanies local, state and other authorities on inspections of buildings and power plant equipment as required Perform weekly engineering rounds according to established schedule.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Registered, certified or graduate of a 2 year degree program in related field OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Experience

At least 5 years in a hospital plant facility environment with leadership role

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

N/A

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic skills and knowledge of general construction. Basic building code understanding and fundamental knowledge of JACHO and DFS standards.

Strong leadership characteristics, ability to work with others in stressful conditions.
