General Description of the Job Class

Develop and implement patient, research/clinical procedures, and provide personnel to accomplish quality results in an accurate, efficient, timely manner consistent with departmental goals. Works closely with the Chief Technologist in Nuclear Medicine and Nuclear Medicine physician staff. Coordinate and supervise the Nuclear Medicine facility.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Assigns staff and workload requirements regarding changing priorities in daily operations.

Provides technical direction/functional advice and direct supervision to staff.

Interacts and communicates with physicians, support staff, and other health care professionals to facilitate departmental operations

Evaluates staff, provides traing, counsel, monitors performance, directs orientation, provides guidance, and constructively influences staff morale. Instruct and educate visiting nurses, technologists and physicians when appropriate, about our procedures, computers and departmental functions.

Monitors the status of equipment repairs and preventative maintenance, gathers data on equipment malfunction and associated down time, and documents the effects on patient care.

Assures compliance with department and institutional policies, procedures, and regulations. Maintains records for established guidelines for radiation safety including: daily and weekly monitoring the appropriate disposable of contaminated trash , syringes and vials.

Assist the Chief Technologist in establishing budgetary forecasts, evaluation and selection of capital equipment and negotiation of purchases when appropriate.

Develop and implement QM procedures and maintenance for laboratory equipment including: cameras, defibrillators, dose calibrator, EKG Monitors ,etc.

Implement new procedures and support any approved research projects as needed.

Personnel functions including hiring, annual evaluations, development & implementation of existing departmental policies. Maintains personel files, scheduling staff, and maintains payroll time reports.

Insure all safety guidelines are followed for patients and personnel including strict enforcement of radiation safety policy.

Maintain working knowledge of resources available to the department and employees in developing work skills, employee benefits, continuing education and assuring that hospital requirements are met. (Fire classes, CPR training, Benefit information, etc.)

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Associate degree in Nuclear Medicine technology or BS in Nuclear Medicine technology.

Experience

3 years of related experience with at least 1 year of team leader or supervisory experience.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

Registered in one of the Nuclear Medicine Technology certifications board. ARRT-N, NMTCB
