General Description of the Job Class
Directs and is responsible for all work performed in a designated section of the laboratory. MT II is responsible for seeing that the designated area operates within the stated standards as set by regulatory agencies such as TJC and CLIA. Maintains records and statistical data according to regulatory requirements. Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens. Resolves problems and interprets results as to accuracy, acceptability and critical values. Follows laboratory and hospital policies and procedures and instructs new employees. Works and assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education
Meets CLIA requirements for position. BS degree from an accredited college or university required, or have previously qualified as a technologist under DHHS/CLIA guidelines. Laboratory training through an accredited laboratory school preferred.
Experience
One to two years experience preferred.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
Certified or eligible for certification as a Medical Technologist, MT (ASCP), MT(AMT), HEW, or CLS (NCA) preferred.
