Supervisory Responsibility:
General Description of the Job Class
Coordinates the staffing for the phlebotomy access points. Serves as a trainer / preceptor for the phlebotomists and others who need competency with phlebotomy. Performs venipunctures, heel sticks and finger sticks to obtain blood samples for testing purposes. Properly identifies patients and follows procedures for collection of specimens. Ensures that all information from the blood collection of specimens is entered into the laboratory computer system including time drawn, time received, and proper collectors initials. Collects chain of custody urine drug screens for pre-employment, post-accident and just cause cases using proper collection procedures as set forth by NIDA. Performs duties at the laboratory front desk, answering phones and performing clerical duties. Performs other related functions as assigned by the MT/MLT on duty or the Laboratory Administrative Director.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education
Completion of a formal training course in phlebotomy procedures from an accredited school or training program preferred.
Experience
Three years phlebotomy experience preferred.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
Phlebotomy certification preferred, but not required.
