General Description of the Job Class

Supervise and coordinate functions of all Nursing units throughout the hospital during specific hours of duty. Serve in an advisory capacity as a nursing expert. Assume responsibility for administrative decisions in absence of Chief Nursing Officer. Maintain inter and intra departmental relationships and open communication with physicians.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Associate's Degree or Diploma required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Master's Degree preferred in Nursing or related field.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience required; preferred in Emergency or Critical Care. Has the knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patients age.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

Current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina. Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
