General Description of the Job Class

Administer, supervise and participate in technical activities associated with the operation of a variety of sections in the Duke University Imaging Division.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Administer and supervise the activities of personnel in specific areas of the Imaging Division to include Diagnostic, Ultrasound, Computed Tomography and Vascular and Intraventional Radiology sections.

Plan and schedule work for the group ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.

Develop and implement quality assurance programs relating to calibration and maintenance of equipment.

Develop, recommend and implement new procedures and techniques to improve patient care. Ensure the availability of proper nursing care for patients in all areas of the laboratory.

Maintain liaison with physicians, research personnel and staff to resolve problems and to advise concerning technical procedures, techniques and equipment.

Supervise and provide instruction to Radiologic Technology students; train new employees.

Prepare reports setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Assist in the determination of fiscal requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditures of budgeted funds.

Recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions and vacation schedules.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Graduate of JRC approved school of Radiologic technology.

Experience

Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in radiological science field.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

Current Registry/License with American Registry of Radiologic Technology.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to communicate well with patients, families, medical staff and other employees.
