General Description of the Job Class
Provide support to the Duke University Health System in the creation of forecasting and volume modeling tools, the compilation and analysis of market information, and incorporation of other data sources (internal and external) in the development and implementation of DUHS strategic plans and business decisions.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Oversee the analysis and collection of data to respond to information needs for DUHS strategic and business planning functions.
Develop forecasting and modeling tools to assist DUHS entities and staff in predicting likely future volume trends to inform business development, facility, and technology planning.
Assist DUHS entities and staff in analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data and information to various parties both internal and external to DUHS.
Participate in development and regular production of standard reports.
Incorporate Excel graphics, PowerPoint presentations, and maps (using Mapinfo, MapPoint), as appropriate, to aid in the visual representation of market information.
Assist DUHS staff in integrating market data with internal data generated by finance, marketing, and other relevant departments.
Provide ongoing support and education to Network Services, CSU, and DUHS entities regarding the use of DUHS databases and tools.
Use software programs (Access, Microsoft SQL) designed to extract, manipulate, compile and organize database information.
Develop and apply knowledge of other databases, both internal and external to DUHS (e.g., T2, Solucient).
Run database reports for specific requests about the market.
Assist DUHS entities and staff in developing ad-hoc reports aimed at extracting the relevant data needed by the end user.
Receive project requests, review and clarify with clients as needed.
Participate in planning meetings to assist in the development of DUHS strategic plans.
Act as primary support to DUHS entities in accessing relevant data sources necessary to develop strategic and business plans.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education
Bachelors degree in a business, healthcare, or quantitative field required. Masters degree preferred.
Experience
Work requires three years related experience. A Masters degree can substitute for two years of experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of Microsoft business package to include PowerPoint, Access, Word, and Excel (SQL preferred but not required)
Extensive working knowledge of PC and/or web-based software programs for database support and management
Excellent forecasting and modeling skills
Good verbal and written skills
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
Ability to handle a variety of projects and tasks simultaneously and balance competing deadlines
