General Description of the Job Class

Provide overall administrative management and participate in setting strategic direction for a variety of clinical and operational activities ensuring compliance with applicable policies and procedures and in support of Duke Health Integrated Practice objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Provide strategic direction and oversight for multiple areas of the Duke Health Integrated Practice business in accordance with the vision, values and expectations of the DHIP.

Manage, develop and mentor direct reports and staff. Direct and coordinate various personnel functions including, but not limited to: hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.

Lead DHIP-wide improvement initiatives and strategic planning efforts and support leadership with implementation of operational improvement efforts and management of administrative projects.

Maintain liaison with all levels of administration, physicians and outside organizations to coordinate business and accomplish directives. Ensure the department is integrated with other departmental areas within the DHIP.

Develop the department operating budget and goals. Oversee and monitor the financial, service and productivity performance of the department. Proactively monitor, analyze and manage reports and all related documents.

Exercise leadership and management responsibility over all functions within this management portfolio ensuring efficient services that are designed to meet the needs of patients, physicians, the public, and staff.

Promote and model a patient-centric and customer service focus within the department as well as with external clients and customers. Develop the department's operational policies, procedures standards and expectations, providing clear opportunities to meet or exceed the entity balanced scorecard objectives.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Work requires organizational, analytical and communication skills acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program in a business or healthcare-related field.

A master's degree in a business or healthcare-related field is strongly preferred.

Experience

Six years of experience in healthcare or other applicable experience directly related to the department is required.
