Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Provide managerial direction and coordination for activities and programs supporting Market Development including personnel and budget management; review of current and proposed policies and procedures; publications and events; monitoring day to day operations and recommending changes or adjustments to provide smooth, effective and efficient operation of the service.

Design and implement comprehensive staff training programs including modules specific to new staff and professional development of continuing staff.

Develop and coordinate management information systems and computer resources to allow for efficient operations and access to and tracking of referring physicians activity data. Perform a variety of duties involved in the organization, documentation, and compilation of data associated with referring physicians including trends, patient mix, access portals, and other clinically driven issues.

Determine fiscal requirements of the service and prepare budgetary recommendations to ensure expenditures are monitored, verified and reconciled.

Coordinate and develop system for meeting operations and communications needs of staff (Physician Relations Managers (PRMs)). Work with PRMs to assist in the management of external physician relationships, resolving problems with the referral process, providing PRMs with marketing materials on Duke???s clinical services, tracking referral volumes and physician satisfaction.

Represent DUMC to local providers and promote a positive public relations and clinical information service regarding medical and research activities and programs. Assist in the planning and coordinating of a comprehensive and diversified public relations program to publicize and promote DUMC clinical services to providers in DUMC Primary, Anchor and Secondary communities. Work with Duke media services including Creative Services, Strategic Planning, and the other Duke News services coordinating efforts to improve communications with the community providers. Develop and implement plans to inform external providers about Duke clinical services and other initiatives as appropriate.

Act as primary liaison with Duke Clinical Service Units to assist them in marketing their new and existing services to external referring physicians. Consult with DUMC faculty and staff to obtain information on teaching and research activities to distribute to providers. Obtain, analyze and assist in the preparation of promotional and informational items concerning medical and research programs at DUMC for publication and circulation in the referral community

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Work requires analytical , organizational & communications skills generally acquired through completion of a Bachelor???s degree program. Masters of Health Administrations or MBA with Health Care Concentration preferred.

Experience

Work requires five years of experience in the healthcare industry to include group practice operations, management, planning, finance reimbursement and managed care concepts. OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
