General Description of the Job Class

Develop and implement projects by performing creative writing and related communications activities in support of institutional and service line promotional/advertising strategies of Duke University Medical Center and Health System.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Develop creative writing, persuasive prose and related communication activities in support of institutional and service line promotional/advertising strategies of Duke University Medical Center and Health System.

Consult with clients regarding projects to identify needs, objectives and design approaches; develop schedules and budgets as required for each project.

Develop and maintain professional contacts and affiliations with media, production and related resources to complete projects effectively and to facilitate and promote the dissemination of news and publicity about the University.

Develop and maintain working relationships with administrators and clinical staff within an assigned area; consult with administrators and clinical staff to publicize and promote service lines.

Monitor and analyze programs and activities at Duke University Medical Center; develop appropriate strategies for communicating information to appropriate target audiences. Assist in planning and coordinating a proactive information services program for Duke University Medical Center and Health System.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Work requires the ability to perform creative writing and related activities such as conducting interviews and research, and copy editing normally acquired through attainment of a bachelor's degree in Journalism, English or a related discipline.

Experience

Work requires two years of directly related writing experience in writing and editing on assignment under deadlines.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
