General Description of the Job Class

Supervises a combination of Exercise Specialists, Exercise Physiologists, Registered Nurses, Dieticians, and other allied health employees. Directs all facets of the interdisciplinary composition of the program.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Responsible and accountable for directing, coordinating, and facilitating programs for wellness and/or rehabilitation.

Organize and participate in program development for clients based on standards of practice/standards of care as appropriate for the age and medical needs of the participant.

Responsible for the leadership and direction of programs, supervision of appropriate staffing and improvement of service lines for the department in accordance with the hospital???s strategic plan and goals.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Bachelors degree in Nursing, Exercise Science or other similar health related field

Experience

Two years of experience in a Cardiac Rehab program or fitness/wellness facility(preferably medically based), plus an additional two years of supervisory experience in the same type of environment.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

Certification for skills and knowledge required for the clinical setting where the clinical practicum is conducted with students (i.e., age- specific competencies, Accucheck, chemstrip UGK, etc.).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to direct all aspects of the cardiac rehab program and supervise program staff.

Background in cardiovascular nursing, health promotion and program development

Knowledge and experience in medically-based fitness industry, including both the fitness and the business side of management.

Strong customer service commitment and highly effective communication skills
