General Description of the Job Class

The Marketing, Communications and Public Relations Specialist participates in the implementation of promotional ideas and activities in support of a comprehensive marketing, communications and/or public relations plan to publicize and promote DUHS activities, programs and growth for general and specialized audiences.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Assist in the preparation of internal promotional publications to include planning articles, editing copy to conform to proper grammatical style, and supervising the printing and distribution of publications.

Conduct interviews, and research and write news releases, articles, and feature stories promoting DUHS activities and programs.

Maintain interface with departmental personnel to elicit news and promotional items of interest and to compile information concerning the calendar of events.

Answer requests for information and articles concerning activities within DUHS from local and national sources.

Participate in corporate communication strategy, planning and implementation.

Write, produce and distribute communication tools.

Provide communication support for special events and health system initiatives.

Monitor and evaluate communication effectiveness, investigate trends, and recommend and implement modifications to improve communications.

Assist in the coordination of marketing and public relations projects.

Participate as a marketing representative in various internal communications/marketing initiatives and seek opportunities to apply marketing principles and tactics to support these initiatives.

Write, edit and coordinate assigned marketing tactics including brochures, on hold messaging, promotional materials and products.

Participate in the execution of collateral marketing materials production and specific service line marketing activities.

Assist in the logistics and processing of print and broadcast advertising placements.

Develop, edit and maintain assigned DUHS web pages.

Monitor DUHS social media sites and tools and maintain an interactive and informative flow of content with patients and consumers who participate in those forums.

Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

Assist with media relations activities for DUHS, including coordination of interviews and implementation of proactive media relations.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Business or related field is required.

Experience

One year of directly related experience is required.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong writing skills, understanding and ability to interface with websites, social media tools and other technologies, understanding of advertising and principles of marketing.

Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
