Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level:

Manage the day-to-day operations of Material Management in designated areas that may include Business Office functions, Centralized Inventory Support, Centralized Shipping and Receiving and Courier functions, Records retention, Bed Management/logistics.

Establish objectives and strategies for Materials Management in support of Duke Hospital and Duke University Health System objectives.

Work collaboratively with medical staff and supply chain leadership to develop and maintain programs and process designed to ensure compliance of service delivery standards. Review and improve standards on an on-going basis. Serve on intra and interdepartmental committees related to organizational objectives. Seek opportunities to promote the vision, mission and value of the organization by serving in leadership positions on relations committees.

Provide administrative support to supply chain leadership; serve as a resource to enhance revenue, achieve optimal utilization and reduce costs.

Maintain timely and effective communication with assigned staff and customers.

Establish and implement and supervise programs to document the proper handling of requisitions, orders, receipt and storage of stock. Ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained and communicate with customers regarding stocking, ordering and deliveries.

Define responsibilities and functions of subordinate positions and assists in establishing staff requirements and scheduling. Serve as mentor to staff and identifies efforts for recognition.

Provide consultation to supervisors in resolution of complex administrative issues.

Recommend and administer various personnel actions including, but not limited to hiring, performance appraisals, and promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.

Perform analysis on performance and quality metrics and execute plans to improve.

Execute the operational aspects necessary to assure financially responsible supply levels in assigned departments.

Benchmark performance measure to track trends and needs for improvement.

Prepare monthly reports such as financial variance, overtime use, quality metrics.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Position requires analytical, organizational and communications skills acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Experience

Work requires a minimum of five years of related experience, some of which was in a health care setting. Healthcare supply chain experience is preferred.
