General Description of the Job Class

Lead ongoing clinical services development planning and implementation to assist in the establishment of System-wide clinical business services.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Provide concise and relevant information to senior leadership to assist in the development of business strategies.

Develop marketing plans, operational and/or business plans to support the successful attainment of organizational and clinical service goals; link Duke University Hospital (DUH) business unit activities to Health System priorities.

Identify opportunities to improve the financial and operational performance of DUHS by coordinating the efforts of DUH, RCH and DRH.

Oversee the prospective monitoring of external sources to project market trends and opportunities potentially affecting key lines of business at DUHS; and report findings regularly to CSUs and share information and conclusions to guide decisions and actions.

Analyze and develop proposals to resolve key operational challenges such as improvements in service, access, and capacity.

Lead the development of business and operational plans for programs impacting multiple business units (e.g. International, Transfer Center, etc.).

Lead the planning process for DUH business units in collaboration with DUH administrative and physician leadership, develop clinical service development plans and annual work plans that contain goals; relevant financial, clinical and market data; clinical volume targets; and methods for evaluating performance to plans. Update plans as needed; and monitor and report on progress.

Supervise and provide guidance to the planning associates and marketing staff; provide oversight to project coordination, scheduling and ensure needs of clients within Network Services and DUHS are met.

Appropriately utilize market research data to provide insightful and decision-guiding information.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Position requires analytical, organizational and communications skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor???s degree program. Master of Health Care Administration or MBA preferred.

Experience

Work requires a minimum of seven years business experience in such areas as hospital administration, provider strategic planning, business and operations planning, market research and financial analysis. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
