General Description of the Job Class

Performs responsible professional work in directing and coordinating a recruitment and admissions program for the Watts College.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Plans, develops, promotes and implements a comprehensive recruitment program for Watts College of Nursing. Travels statewide to participate in high school and college career day programs; communicates with applicants relative to programs offered as to curriculum, faculty, physical facilities, admissions requirements, job opportunities and other activities associated with the nursing program; writes monthly report on all recruiting activities for the Associate Chief Executive Business and Administration. Processes applications received, interviews prospective students and prepares a comprehensive report on their personal and academic achievements; serves on the Students Committee; communicates acceptance and rejection to each student reviewed by the Students Committee. Assists in the orientation of incoming students. Serves as a member of various faculty committees. Presents publically before civic, professional, and other community organizations in order to develop interest in programs offered. . Works closely with Marketing Department to plan budget for the College; evaluates the outcomes and goals for recruitment and admissions reflective of data. Works with marketing for development of resources, social media and other modalities for recruitment. Revise and updates Catalogue for the College annually and maintains currency of information on web site. Performs related work as required.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Bachelor's Degree in education, healthcare, business or related field.

Master's Degree preferred.

Experience

Work requires 3 years'experience in higher education, business, recruitment, healthcare, or related field.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

Must have a valid N.C. driver's license and good driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Correspond with prospective students, applicants, career counselors and others seeking information on admissions standards.

Assist and participate with other staff having special projects, committee assignments with the coordination of activities designed to accomplish established objectives.

Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of modern recruitment, interviewing and selection practices. Use of creative strategies for recruitment. Some knowledge of basic psychology, sociology and physiological testing.

Ability to interact effectively with high school and college students and to effectively communicate the desirability of entering the Watts College of Nursing. Ability to use discretion in obtaining information about prospective students. Ability to interface with applicants at all points of the admission process to reflect the values of Watts College of Nursing. Embraces diversity, inclusion, and individuality of the prospective applicants.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with high school and college officials.

Knowledge of transfer credits and regulations related to admission processes. Understands accreditation processes at the state and national levels.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
