General Description of the Job Class

Responsible for overall functions of clinical operations within the Clinical Service Unit, including assigned CSU-specific programs and initiatives, as well as oversight of nursing clinical practice development including, but not limited to, partnering with the Advanced Practice Nursing Department and other departments in this regard.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Oversee development and implementation of plans, operations, and programs within the Clinical Service Unit

Provide oversight regarding nursing clinical practice development including developing infrastructure and implementing effectiveness measures

Provide administrative direction to management staff within areas of responsibility including supporting plan development, priority-setting, decision-making, and professional development

Coordinate the establishment of major schedules, task assignments, and allocation of resources to ensure conformance with specified objectives and policies

Coordinate the resource needs for areas of responsibility, including reviewing and approving budgetary recommendations, and preparing variance analyses of budgeted revenues and expenses for areas of responsibility

Lead change regarding quality of care and operational enhancements including implementation and communication plans related thereto

Coordinate with management staff needed resources and work required to conform to hospital policies and procedures

Coordinate activities with managers and administrators in other departments as needed to ensure high quality, efficient clinical services

Prepare reports and analyses as needed to make and recommend operational decisions

Direct personnel functions related to areas of responsibility including, but not limited to hiring and performance management

Assist the Associate Operating Officer in such duties as may be assigned or delegated

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Work requires organizational, analytical, communication, change management, and leadership skills normally acquired through the completion of masters degree program. Candidates with a clinical degree are preferred.

Experience

Work requires minimum of seven years of progressive administrative experience, generally in a hospital, health care or similar service industry to become proficient in managing quality of care, patient/customer satisfaction, staff satisfaction, and financial performance over multiple operating areas, departments or programs. Previous experience managing operations at an administrative leadership level is required. A Masters degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration or a related field is preferred
