General Description of the Job Class

The Director of DUHS Nurse Recruitment has the responsibility to ensure that the talent acquisition services provided have a customer orientation, are operationally efficient and achieve effective recruitment outcomes consistent with organizational strategies. This position will report directly to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer for Nurse Recruitment and Administrative Systems and has accountability to manage the talent acquisition team consisting of recruiters and administrative professionals. The Director has primary responsibility for Duke University Hospital but will serve as primary resource for all nurse recruiters within DUHS. This role will assess and develop best practices by developing staffing and sourcing approaches consistent with organizational needs and according to market changes. The leader in this position will partner with other operations and HR functions to staff for all patient care and business service area positions. This position has the responsibility to improve processes and develop a change management process for the customers and staff impacted by the process improvements. This position has the responsibility to provide team and individual skill development for direct reports.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Provides management and leadership for the Nurse Recruitment staff with consultation and recommendations pertaining to effective sourcing practices, recruitment and interviewing practices as well as optimal on- boarding techniques.

Develop and execute Annual Recruitment Plan and Goals and participates in the development of ongoing creative and cost-effective sourcing strategies in difficult markets. Develop marketing strategies and oversee marketing plan for DUHS Nursing.

Partners with business leaders to interpret workforce plans into staffing plans, and develops new recruiting/hiring initiatives to improve effectiveness and satisfy the needs and demands of the business

Generate and prepare quantitative and qualitative reports for executives, senior management and/or HR staff on employment and workforce trends.

Identifies and presents necessary training programs for staff development and Hiring Managers

Maintains current knowledge of industry employment trends and employs them when appropriate

Defines talent acquisition metrics and develops practical tracking and reporting methods. Analyzes those data and work with leaders to determine functional effectiveness. Serves as a key contributor to new hire retention rates, using data to inform decisions, communicate results, and identify areas for improvement.

Develop and implement talent branding across a variety of channels, including social media, diversity recruiting programs and industry- specific events. Oversees college and off-site recruiting efforts (recruitment fairs, on-campus interviews, networking events, etc.)

Enforces policies and procedures for recruiting and hiring guidelines

Determine fiscal requirements, prepare budgetary recommendations, monitor costs and expenditures, and authorize expenditures for the department.

Establishes effective communication between nursing departments and Central Recruitment and Human Resources such as HRIS, Benefits, Rewards and Recognition, Employee Occupational Health Services, and Staff and Labor Relations to streamline recruitment procedures.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Work requires completion of Master's degree in a related discipline. Nurse recruitment experience preferred.

Experience

Work requires seven to ten years of talent acquisition experience with three to five years of management experience.

-Understands the latest talent acquisition strategies, trends and practices;

-Experience working with recruiting techniques and employment policies and procedures, including EEO and OFCCP regulations;

-Excellent oral and written communication, planning, time management, and decision-making skills;

-Strong aptitude for analyzing data and identifying trends;

-Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, online job boards, and sourcing tools;

-Ability to deliver results with little supervision, and to effectively manage multiple projects
