General Description of the Job Class

Manage, supervise and coordinate operational activities within the Neurodiagnostic department.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Clinical & Patient Safety

??? Manage, supervise and coordinate delivery of patient care for assigned patient care area on a 24 hour basis. Coordinate the activities of technical staff with other hospital personnel; accountable for the effective and efficient operation of the department and staff including ensuring that orders and procedures are being carried out in a manner supportive of patient care.

??? Plan, schedule and organize work for group ensuring proper distribution and delegation of assignments and efficient utilization of personnel, space and facilities; overall accountability for the requisition, care and maintenance of unit inventory, equipment and supplies.

??? Coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures designed to improve operational efficiency. Communicate requirements to staff, and hold staff accountable to established requirements.

??? Maintain required unit records, reports and statistics for administrative purposes, ensures compliance with established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality control, PI, safety, environmental and infection control.

??? Work with the Administrative Director in the development of strategic and operational growth of neurodiagnostic services.

??? Serve as a departmental liaison to outside accrediting agencies and professional organizations by executing DUH sponsored workshops, conferences, and by attending local and national meetings related to the field of neurodiagnostic services.

Customer Service

??? Serve as the staff and patient advocate to ensure optimal patient care.

??? Develop a workforce that promotes and understands the importance of patient satisfaction.

??? Maintain liaison with physicians, research personnel and hospital staff to resolve problems, to offer advice concerning technical procedures, techniques and equipment, and to maintain conformance with specific operational standards.

??? Develop physician relations with referring physicians and other service lines with DUH.

Financial

??? Ensure documentation of patient care is complete and accurate in accordance with hospital and unit policies and procedures.

??? Collaborate with the Administrative Director to determine fiscal requirements of the department, and prepare budgetary recommendations.

??? Monitor the level of resources utilized in service delivery and determines the appropriateness of resource consumption in the service.

??? Develop action plans in conjunction with the Administrative Director to ensure budget and resource efficiency, and satisfaction with patient care delivery.

??? Oversee various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations and other related activities

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Work requires a Bachelors degree in biology, physiology, psychology, or related field.

Experience

Work requires 3 years of experience in Neurodiagnostics including but not limited to EEG, Evoked Potentials, Epilepsy, PSG and TCD.

Prefer at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

Registry in one of the following required: R. EEG T, RPSGT, R. EP, R. CLTM, or CNIM.
