General Description of the Job Class

The VP/BT will lead redesign efforts in administrative/management areas and collaborate with other stakeholders (clinical operations, the Duke Quality System) on large-scale redesign in clinical areas. The VP/BT and team will also be asked to identify and incubate business opportunities outside of the core care delivery business. Importantly, the VP/BT will be the primary interface for improvement consultants, and the team will provide resources to third-party engagements, where possible, to facilitate Duke ownership of outcomes and reduce reliance on external analytic and project management support.

Develop the long-term DUHS business improvement roadmap as well as the near-term milestone plans, accountability matrices, objectives and other tools needed to lead the organization on the journey to sustainable major change.

Build team capabilities and skills to champion resource management / cost-down efforts across nonclinical areas (e.g. finance, HR, compliance / legal / regulatory, support services).

Maintain leadership team focus on and commitment to agreed-upon outcomes even as new initiatives and opportunities evolve.
