General Description of the Job Class

The Project Manager, DUHS is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the completion of projects aligned with the strategic and business goals of the health system, ensuring that these projects are completed on time, within assigned budget, and within scope.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Works with internal stakeholders and external clients to define the project parameters and create a process to bring the project to fruition.

Establishes and manages client expectations, develops a detailed project plan, defines the scope of the project, understands potential project risks, and assigns team members to specific project tasks.

Assembles and leads a team capable of meeting or exceeding client expectations for the project.

Guides, coaches, motivates, assigns tasks and re-orients the team as needed to ensure successful completion of project goals.

Maintains open and honest communication and ensures a positive team dynamic and shared commitment to team goals and performance expectations.

Creates an accurate timeline for project completion, ensures tasks are finished and milestones are reached within the confines of the assignment, and tracks project progress in a clear and transparent way.

Anticipates delays that may occur and recommends changes to project timelines and actions needed to the project team, the client, and all stakeholders.

Holds the project team accountable for assigned tasks. May include supervisory responsibilities or indirect supervision.

Collects, curates, and manages all data related to project cost, milestone completions, and project outcomes as the project progresses and advises on necessary actions.

Proactively addresses challenges that arise during project completion and makes recommendations to address.

Adapts to shifts in business priorities, and work conditions, thinks creatively, and actively solicits diverse perspectives to keep the project on track.

Recognizes and addresses scope creep, bringing project back into alignment with agreements made in the project planning phase.

Manages the project budget with an eye to cost efficiencies and alignment with pre-determined spend, clearly communicating cost implications to the project team, to the client, and to stakeholders. May hold discretionary responsibility for reviewing costs outside of budget.

Keeps open lines of communication for project updates and solicits stakeholder feedback at every step of the project journey.

Communicates any changes to project timelines and budget to all client and stakeholder groups.

Upon project completion, evaluates project efficiency and effectiveness.

Identifies gaps and project shortcomings and plans for ways to fix similar issues in the future.

Highlights project successes, recaps positive project outcomes, and provides recognition for team members who excelled during the project.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Experience

Work requires the ability to plan and deliver on project objectives and to direct team activities towards strategic goals, generally acquired through four years of related experience or any other equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications An advanced degree or project management certification.

Five or more years of professional experience managing complex deliverables and coordinating the activities of diverse stakeholder groups.

Project management experience.

Stakeholder management ??? ability to communicate clearly and to build bridges across diverse stakeholder groups from the executive to the front-line level.

Communications skills and excellence in delivering oral and written presentations.

Ability to meet deadlines and to hold team members accountable for meeting deadlines.

Extremely strong attention to details; focus on quality of deliverables and project outcomes.

Ability to coordinate and organize efficient meetings and events.
