General Description of the Job Class

The Senior Physician and Clinician Compensation Analyst is a key member of the team responsible for supporting the design, analysis, and administration of compensation programs for Duke Health Integrated Practice and Duke School of Medicine clinical faculty and clinically focused Advanced Practice Provider (APP). This role ensures pay structures, inclusive of clinical and academic pay elements, are market competitive, equitable and aligned with organizational objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Assist DHIP/SOM leadership in the administration of physician and clinician clinically focused Advanced Practice Provider (APP) compensation programs.

- Conduct market analyses for clinicians using data from industry benchmarks to determine competitive pay structures.

- Partner with Finance, Talent Acquisition and Faculty leadership to ensure alignment between compensation plans and organizational strategy.

- Support the design and modeling of short and long-term incentive plans, insuring they drive performance and remain financially sustainable.

- Provide analysis and decision support for all Salary, Effort and Appointment changes.

- This senior-level role is expected to independently manage a more complex portfolio of departments and compensation scenarios, requiring advanced analytical judgment and strategic partnership with senior leaders.

Develop and maintain physician and clinician performance reports and monitor trends to provide insights for leadership.

Perform quantitative analysis for monthly accruals and payroll audits and quarterly reconciliations.

Ensure data integrity with all physician and clinician metrics and reporting systems.

Ensure compliance with healthcare compensation regulations

Serve as a working team lead for the Physician Compensation Analyst, providing day-to-day guidance, mentorship, and support on workload management, analytical projects, and best practices. Ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables, foster skill development, and assist in prioritizing work to align with team and organizational goals. Partner with leadership to provide feedback on performance and development needs as appropriate.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education

B.A./B.S. from an accredited institution, preferably in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.

Master's Degree preferred.

Experience

Minimum of three years of experience in financial analysis, information gathering and reporting or clinician contracting in the healthcare industry is required. Proficiency in analytical software, financial analysis tools, clinician contracting platforms, or statistics is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

This role requires expertise in healthcare clinician compensation and/or contracting. The knowledge base should include familiarity with wRVU- based models, shift-based pay structures and short and long-term incentives plans. The Physician & Clinician Compensation Analyst will collaborate with Finance, Clinical Operations, Talent Acquisition, Legal, Compliance, and DHIP/SOM leadership to develop insights and recommendations for clinician pay programs.
