Supervisory Responsibility:
General Description of the Job Class
Oversees a wide variety of administrative, fiscal, and technical activities to ensure the efficient operation of the clinical laboratory and ensure compliance with corporate policies. Responsible for the quality control program, quality assurance, and the point-of-care testing programs within the clinical laboratory. Plans, organizes, directs, controls, and evaluates the work of the clinical laboratory. Cooperates with all areas of the hospital to ensure laboratory services are adding to a quality plan of care patients. Responsible for all personnel including hiring, discipline, staff development, evaluation and payroll. Assures the laboratory meets all regulatory requirements (TJC, CMS/CLIA, CAP, AABB, etc.).
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education
Bachelor's degree in medical technology or a biological or chemical science required; master's degree preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years management experience required.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
MT (ASCP) or equivalent preferred.
