Occupational Summary

Assist in the planning, supervision, and coordination of all tennis programming and policies for the Duke Faculty Club.

Work Performed

Provide competent tennis instruction for all groups and levels, including but not limited to juniors, adults, seniors, beginners and advanced players; document participation and charges incurred therein.

Assist the Tennis Director in developing and coordinating recreational and social tennis functions for Duke Faculty Club community and guests. Develop and coordinate a comprehensive Junior tennis program for Duke Faculty Club members.

Communicate tennis opportunities, schedule changes and court status to the membership through email, monthly newsletter, bulletin board, voice mail, website updates, and personal interaction.

Enforce all DFC rules and regulations governing the use of its facilities, equipment and other property.

Assist the DFC management staff during club special events and recreational programming as required.

Assist the director in recruiting, interviewing, training, and evaluating all seasonal tennis staff.

Responsible for creating a welcoming and vibrant tennis environment that promotes safety, quality customer service, and excellence.

Perform long and short-term planning for Duke Faculty Club tennis program budget expenditures, as directed by the Tennis Director; work with DFC management staff regarding expenditure monitoring, proper billing and resolution of questionable charges

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through two years of post secondary education.

USPTA or USPTR certification.

 

Experience:

Work requires one year of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events.
