Supervise, coordinate and participate in the delivery of audiovisual services to ensure design and production of quality services for the Duke University community and outside non-profit organizations.
Supervise and coordinate the business and operational aspects of audiovisual service delivery to ensure effective administration of fiscal, personnel and operational procedures.
Analyze and discuss program content, structure, scheduling and cost estimation with clients to determine type of media support needed.
Schedule audiovisual equipment to include sound, lighting, and/or other equipment and necessary labor; maintain calendar of scheduled uses for equipment; ensure that simultaneous events are supported with adequate equipment and labor resources.
Accept requests directly from event sponsors or from Special Events Services office; discuss requirements with sponsors, provide advice and assistance in selecting correct equipment. Work with clients during pre-production planning as a consultant on various aspects of production; supervise, coordinate, and participate in the actual production of programs; supervise and/or participate in the post-production and completion stages.
Maintain top professional proficiency in the operation of all equipment asso-ciated with effects and editing; troubleshoot equipment problems and perform minor maintenance; refer major repairs to outside repair shop; ensure that these are completed, returned, and properly billed. Maintain inventory of required supplies and equipment; evaluate new media equipment and techniques for application at Duke University; recommend purchase of new equipment and supplies; diagnose malfunctions; calibrate and make minor repairs to video, recording and related equipment; dispose of obsolete equipment as appropriate.
Act as campus resource person for inquiries regarding audiovisual equipment purchases and technological developments.
Monitor status of all ongoing projects and ensure optimal use of available equipment and materials, compliance with stated deadlines, and adherence to established quality standards; train and supervise pool of student and part-time technicians and determine optimal utilization based on work load, financial, and skill level considerations.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Education/Training: | Work requires the ability to perform a variety of technical tasks associated with the delivery of audio and video services as well as the ability to analyze program content and project costs, normally acquired through a college education in a media production area. |
Experience: | Work generally requires one year of experience in a theater recording studio or audiovisual production environment to become familiar with the administration of fiscal, personnel and operational procedures necessary to coordinate the business and operational aspects of audio and video service delivery.
