Occupational Summary

To build pathways that lead to a more diverse segment of our population being engaged with the documentary arts and who may go on to become documentarians.

Work Performed

Emerging documentary artists will work alongside CDS faculty, staff, and artists, exploring and developing their skills in audio, photography, writing, film, and /or other documentary mediums.

Emerging documentary artists will participate in program activities (workshops, conferences, classes, trips, etc.) to further develop and encourage community connections and their voice in the arts.

Emerging documentary artists will plan and work on their own documentary arts projects and interact with local and national mentors.

Emerging documentary artists will present their projects to the larger community, serve as mentors to incoming emerging documentary artists, and receive support as they plan for their next steps (within the documentary arts or otherwise).

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Applicants typically would not be enrolled in school on a full-time basis. No other required education needed.

 

Experience:

Applicants must demonstrate some form of artistic engagement (all creative forms encouraged) and interest in exploring the documentary arts (no previous experience in documentary arts required).
