Assist staff in listening to, understanding and translating spoken or written statements from one language to another. Provide language services to individuals with limited English proficiency.
Facilitate effective communication between two parties that do not speak a similar language by converting one spoken or written language to another.
Provide interpreter services, and convey the exact message as opposed to summarizing the information in a way that is subjective.
Potential to translate spoken communication to sign language for hearing impaired audience.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with established University policies and procedures.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Education/Training: | High School Diploma or equivalent. Work requires sufficient education and/or experience to become proficient in translation. |
Experience: | Previous experience in a Higher Education or Health Care setting preferred. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE. |
Skills: | Fluency in foreign language; Ability to work with diverse populations from various economic backgrounds and age groups; Accurate and appropriate interpretation skills at all times; Excellent verbal and written communication skills. |
