Occupational Summary

Hand brush and roll paint Medical Center buildings, areas, equipment and furniture; prepare surfaces prior to painting.

Work Performed

Hand brush and roll paint Medical Center buildings, areas, equipment and furniture.

Properly prepare surfaces to be painted by cleaning, scraping, patching and sanding; perform typical operations such as application of primer, sealer, or undercoats to surfaces; apply finish and/or protective coats to walls or ceilings.

Determine type and kind of materials needed, time allowance between coats and number required, adequacy of surface preparation and areas to be painted according to verbal and written instructions.

Read blueprints; use riggings, hoist, ladders, scaffolding, lifts and other various equipment used in the paint trade; safely perform duties by following all safety guidelines related to working on ladders, lifts and scaffolds.

Select proper materials needed for job to include, but not limited to, brushes, rollers, pads, mitts and other related materials.

Repair and finish drywall for painting; properly use and care for equipment used in paint trade.

Thin materials to proper consistency if needed.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Work requires an educational background normally equivalent to a high school degree with shop work courses or equivalent.

 

Experience:

Work requires 1 year of experience in the preparation and painting of interior and exterior walls to acquire a working knowledge of techniques, practices and methods of the painting trade.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
