Occupational Summary

Hand brush, roll and spray paint University buildings, areas, equipment and furniture, including mixing, blending and matching of paints and stains.

Work Performed

Hand brush, roll and spray paint University buildings, areas, equipment and furniture; hang vinyl and decorative wall coverings.

Mix, blend and match paint and stains to proper color and consistency.

Determine sequences of paint operations and methods to be used including need or advisability for scaffolding and rigging, color blending and matching required, type and amount of materials needed, and areas to be painted according to work orders; estimate time and cost for painting jobs. Perform such typical operations as applying decorative and/or protective finish coats to such office furniture as desks, chairs, and cabinets.

Apply trim to office interiors including trim striping, dado work and stippling.

Design and paint signs of all types.

Make work assignments; review work of lower level employees; assist in training new employees.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Work requires an educational background normally equivalent to high school with shop work courses.

 

Experience:

Work requires 2 years of experience in the preparation and painting of interior and exterior walls to acquired a working knowledge of techniques, practices and methods of the painting trade.
