Occupational Summary

Oversee and participate in activities related to the enforcement of parking regulations and to the assistance of maintenance of parking facilities and special events.

Work Performed

Lead enforcement staff, temporary staff and traffic control monitors and other personnel engaged in directing traffic and enforcing parking regulations; daily assistance in coordinating special events parking.

Plan and schedule work for the group, ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate scheduling, space and facilities for the performance of duties.

Coordinate training seminars; develop a comprehensive training guide for Public Safety personnel and monitors. Analyze data regarding ticketing activities to determine ticketing patterns and effectiveness of enforcement activities; counsel team, adjust schedules and recommend regulatory changes based on findings.

Direct the towing of illegally parked vehicles; coordinate towing procedures with wrecker service; resolve damage complaints from owners of towed vehicles; ensure impound lots are properly maintained.

Develop and maintain inventory system on supplies, equipment and vehicles; develop and implement standardized plans; coordinate the installation and maintenance of traffic and directional signs; ensure proper marking of streets, parking lots and fire lanes and signage recommendations.

Supervise collection of event parking fees; ensure cash is handled and deposited according to established procedure.

Supervise and participate in troubleshooting and awareness of maintenance issues with parking meters and automatic gates; notify appropriate personnel for major/minor repairs.

Participate in surveys and studies of present and future parking needs to ensure adequate parking for students, faculty and employees; recommend changes in parking system and traffic regulations; submit measurements, drawings and photographs of parking areas to Traffic Appeals Committee as requested. Recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisal, promotions, transfers, and vacation schedules.

This position and department strives to provide a high level of service to students, employees and visitors who work, live, and visit the University and Health Care System.

Viability to work overtime and weekends due to high volume of all types of special events on campus is required. Excellent customer service and communication skills, to include answering telephones, responding to emails, greeting customers, deescalating situations, problem-solving with customers, providing directions to the patrons / guests, cashiering, sales, follow up on citation/tow issues and adjudications.

This position requires adhering to provided quotas monthly, annually and motivating and working with team members to achieve goals as well.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein and as directed by operations manager or director.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Work requires the ability to provide instructions generally acquired through high school education. Ability to make change is required.

 

Experience:

Work requires one year experience in the parking field.
