Perform semi-skilled and routine manual tasks involved in the collection and transportation of bio-medical waste and or needle boxes. Perform daily terminal cleaning and re-supply of various areas in the hospital to include but not limited to Operating Room, OR sterile areas (nursing stations, locker areas, lounges and scrub sink areas), North Pavilion OR, Emergency Room, and Labor and Delivery unit. Clean and sanitize in accordance with the procedures established by Infection Control and the Department of Environmental Services.
Operate hand truck and drive van for transport, delivery, loading and unloading of supplies/sealed medical waste boxes.
Maintain accurate records of all needle boxes/ medical waste transactions on a daily basis using a medical scanner.
Properly seal all medical waste boxes by standard procedures. Report improper waste disposal violations to manager immediately.
Maintain security of all supplies/collections at all times. Report any missing items to manager immediately.
Inventory supplies and Medical Waste Trailer and report restocking needs to the manager to prevent shortages or disruption of services.
Follow Universal Precautions and proper procedures for the handling of all clinical/lab waste to be transported.
Clean and maintain equipment. Maintain clean storeroom.

Education/Training: | High School Diploma or GED preferred. Work requires the ability to read, comprehend and follow oral and written instructions. Must have valid NC Drivers' License |
Experience: | Work requires at least one year of general housekeeping experience. |
