Occupational Summary

Supervise and participate in the construction, installation, modification, maintenance and repair of Duke University Medical Center electrical appliances, systems, facilities and related electronic controls and devices.

Work Performed

Supervise and participate in the construction, installation, modification, maintenance and repair of electrical appliances, systems, facilities and related electronic controls and devices by interpreting blueprints, manufacturers specifications, written and verbal instructions. Plan and schedule work for the group ensuring proper distrubition of assignments and adequate manning, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.

Assist in the establishment of preventive maintenance programs for Medical Center electrical systems and facilities.

Train and instruct new employees.

Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

Supervise various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Requires educational background normally equivalent to high school plus 2 years of formal technical training in the principles of electricity and electrical designs. Requires current North Carolina electrical license.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

Experience:

Work requires 4 years of journeyman's experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures; experience in a leadership role is required.
