Locate underground cables, pipes and other conduits to prevent damage during excavations.
Utilize site plans, area maps and blueprints to locate underground high-voltage electrical cables, water lines, sewer lines, steam lines, gas lines, telephone and other communications lines, as well as duct banks and electric/water/gas taps to buildings.
Utilize site plans, area maps, blueprints, computer mapping database and other location information along with conduit-location equipment to locate conduits; update records using field findings.
Indicate conduit locations and communicate other relevant information to excavation personnel or other appropriate authorities; attend coordination meetings at project sites to discuss and plan service outages.
Maintain accurate records of work time and client identities to allow proper assignment of charge codes.
Transport location equipment and supplies to assigned sites; clean and maintain location equipment.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Education/Training: | Work requires an educational background normally equivalent to high school with course work in skilled crafts or trades. |
Experience: | Work requires 3years of technical experience in utility conduit location, including: map/plan reading; locating equipment operation. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Valid N.C. driver's license required. Some heavy lifting may be required. |
