Occupational Summary

Perform a variety of duties associated with the operation and general maintenance of high-volume digital printing and xerographic machinery to include problem solving related to job specifications, work flow and deadlines; perform or assist with scheduling and quality control.

Work Performed

Analyze, process and follow up reproduction requests by determining best methods for producing desired documents; prepare jobs, ensuring quality, through the use of paste-ups, make-readies and slip-sheeting; ensure the completion of jobs in accordance with scheduled turnaround time; program duplicating machines and digital printers and coordinate the work flow to enhance productivity.

Build and monitor electronic print queues, analyzing computer file formats and converting as necessary; facilitate transfer of documents via University and local network to storage media and printers; archive as needed.

Assist supervisor by scheduling and checking completed work; train employees; generate and review reports on productivity, waste and schedules; in supervisor's absence, check and assign all work orders, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.

Contact customers regarding complaints and questions not handled by Customer Services Department.

Act as consultant to clarify instructions and resolve complaints; negotiate schedules and advise colleagues on cost-effective methods consistent with the highest quality products, services and University image.

Create electronic image enhancements to improve the quality of originals or achieve desired design effect by cropping, enlarging, manipulating photographs and utilizing color machines as needed.

Maintain production logs; check and complete work orders and other documentation, reviewing completed work for accuracy and quality; perform routine maintenance on machines to include changing belts, cleaning machines, installing various agents and developer, and making minor repairs; maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Work requires a general educational background normally equivalent to a high school education.

 

Experience:

Work generally requires three years of experience in a duplicating, printing or related operation to acquire a broad knowledge of the operation of a variety of duplicating and related equipment.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
